Nevada is not a state that people tend to associate with kayaking, but there are lots of kayaking destinations in Nevada. Nevada is certainly a state that tends to feature a lot of desert habitats and desert animals, which may be less than enthralling to a lot of people. However, there are plenty of other habitats in such a large state, and other opportunities to see nature and do other outdoor athletic activities. When people are taking a vacation in Nevada, in between enjoying all of the different gaming opportunities at the casinos, seeing all sorts of shows from some of the best entertainers in the world, and seeing some fantastic historical landmarks, people can enjoy some of the best kayaking destinations in Nevada. Kayaking Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Few places are going to be better for a kayaking trip than a place that seems to have been actively designed for it. The Kayaking Lake Mead National Recreation Area features some of the cleanest and most crystal clear water that people are going to find anywhere. While people cannot launch their kayaks from the Hoover Dam base itself, there are plenty of other great launching points for kayaking in Lake Mead. There are also guided tours for the people who have never seen the area before and who really want to be able to see all of the best parts of Lake Mead as quickly as possible.
Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge
Some people will go to the National Wildlife Refuge for the sake of bird watching. Bird watching from the vantage point of a kayak is that much better for everyone involved. People can cover much more territory from the vantage point of a kayak, and they’re going to be able to see so many different birds while they’re there. The National Wildlife Refuge has so many beautiful and preserved areas that people all around the world are going to see natural wonders that just aren’t found in other areas. The kayak is going to give them an advantage when it comes to seeing the area and really experiencing it, especially if they’re interested in all of the aquatic wildlife, which should still be at least partly visible from the standpoint of a kayak.
The Colorado River
The Colorado River is long enough that people who are interested in kayaking will be able to reach it from many different vantage points across many different states. Nevada has a lot of great launching points for the people who are interested in kayaking down the Colorado River. People who travel to the Black Canyon in particular will be able to find a lot of great launching points for the kayaking trip of their lives. In the summertime, people are probably going to have to deal with temperatures that exceed ninety degrees on the Fahrenheit scale, but for some people, it’s going to be worth it anyway to experience such a beautiful area from the point of view that a kayak offers.
